Suspect Who Police Say Dragged a Dog to Death Arrested

OWENSBORO, KY - A western Kentucky man has been charged with animal cruelty, after police say he chained a dog to the back of his vehicle, and dragged it until the dog died.

Officers arrested Todd Bowlds, 34, of Owensboro at his home Thursday night.  The Daviess County Sheriff's office said Bowlds dragged the dog a half-mile, then turned around with the dog still chained to the vehicle.

The incident happened on McFarland Road between Utica and Owensboro.  Deputies told NEWS 25 when they arrived, they found the dog lying on the side of the road, dead.  They also found blood up and down the road where it had been dragged.  They also say Bowlds used a hangar and a gun sling to tie the dog to the car.
