(KDKA) PITTSBURGH Police and
humane officers are trying to find out what
kind of a person would chain animals to a
pole and leave them there to starve to
death?
It was a gruesome find in Lincoln-Lemington neighborhood when officers found two young pit bulls chained to a metal pole. The animals were left to starve to death. The male and female pit bulls were abandoned with no food and no water. Apparently, no one walking in the alley behind the yard noticed or cared about the suffering in plain sight. "I don't know why nobody in this neighborhood ever called us so that we weren't too late to save their lives and end the suffering," said Humane Officer Kathy Hecker. Officials say the dogs were not family pets. They believe they were most likely fighting dogs. (© MMVI, CBS Broadcasting Inc. All Rights Reserved.)
