Suspects arrested in dog fighting investigation 12:29 PM EDT on Tuesday, April 3, 2007By 13News A search warrant by Virginia Beach animal control officers and police for a home where dog fighting allegedly occurred didn't turn up any dog fighting materials, police said. But two men wanted on charges of alleged organized dog fighting have been arrested.
29-year-old Sherman Macer was arrested Monday night around 10:00 p.m. and released on his own recognisance, police said. 19-year-old Derek Johnson was taken into custody at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday. He's free on a $2,500 surety bond.
But they took a pit bull from the home on Beautiful Street during the search.
Police were called to the home last week after two dogs were caught fighting in the yard. Both dogs were taken away and both had bite marks from the fight, authorities noted.
A third dog was taken from the home Friday. All three animals are being held until court proceedings, police added. |
