COURTESY LISTING The majority of Northeast Ohio shelters, humane societies, pounds and animal protective leagues kill any dog that has the appearance of a pit bull without any regard for the dog's temperament. As a result, For the Love of Pits® receives numerous emails and phone calls from Ohio residents requesting help placing stray, abandoned, abused, injured and neglected pit bulls because these people do not want these nice dogs to die. Unfortunately, we are a very small organization with only 3 long term foster homes and so we are often full and even overwhelmed and unable to help the majority of people requesting help. Because of our lack of foster homes, we offer to help list the dogs as long as the individual is willing to foster the dog and is willing to bring the dog to us so we can conduct a behavior assessment and ensure the dog has a solid temperament. Of course, the dog is not put through our program but we stay in touch with the individual and provide assistance when we are able to do so. For the Love of Pits is not responsible for the dogs listed on this page. For the Love of Pits has not verified the dogs' descriptions and does not guarantee the temperament or the truth of the statements made about each dog. If you are interested in any of the dogs listed on this page, please complete the online or pdf placement application and we will forward the completed application to the individual responsible for the particular dog. We are not responsible for the response or lack thereof and are not responsible for the decision of the responsible individual.
