Crystal is amazing!!!  She has it all!!!  She's beautiful, sweet, intelligent, confident, loving, affectionate, calm and attentive.

Crystal is approximately 1.5 years of age and weighs approximately 50 pounds.  Crystal has a very stable temperament with both dogs and people.  She currently lives with 5 dogs and they all love her.  She plays with some and cuddle with others but when her foster mom is around, all she wants is to be close to her.

Crystal has completed her first basic obedience class and changed many minds during the 7 weeks in class.  She's an amazing dog with a sweet, loving, happy temperament.  Crystal walks well on leash, is housebroken, crate trained, UTD on vaccinations, spayed and microchipped.

Crystal is a BREED AMBASSADOR!!!  We would love to see her become a therapy dog because what she does best is make people happy.  Crystal has already changed the minds of many people!

Crystal is a beautiful mix of fawn and blue colors.  She's so unique looking!!!!

Anyone lucky enough to bring Crystal into their family will be required to attend basic obedience classes with Crystal within one month of adoption.

Background:  In April 2007, a local humane society was notified of dogs living in a house that had been abandoned and foreclosed.  At this house, the humane society found 14 pit bull mixes living in deplorable conditions. The dogs (4 of whom were puppies) were all malnourished and dehydrated and living in their own waste.  Many of the dogs had open sores, significant hair loss and parasite infestations. The dogs were placed in protective custody and transported to the humane society where they received medical care, nourishment and lots of love. While awaiting a court date to determine their fate, the humane society worked very hard to nurse the dogs back to mental and physical health. A volunteer dog trainer was hired specifically to work with the dogs. Trainers use positive reinforcement to teach all commands. Many things were done to enrich their stay such as playing music, using aroma therapy, setting up pools and sprinklers on hot days and spending quiet time being handled and groomed. They have received training on basic commands and have been exposed to a variety of situations and people. The puppies and adults have been clicker trained to do basic commands. They were also fitted with sensible harnesses and are working on walking nicely on leash.
