Have you ever been moved to the point of breathlessness?  If so, you know how Dillon makes us feel.  He has the most gentle, soulful eyes; he is sweet and polite and so loving; he has such a connection with everyone he comes into contact with; and there's just something that attracts people to him.

Dillon is a wonderful dog and a great example of the American pit bull terrier.  He's very intelligent, he absolutely loves people, he is very affectionate, he has a magnetic personality and he's incredibly resilient.  Dillon is approximately 3 years of age and weighs around 55 pounds.  Dillon enjoys chewing on nylabones and rope bones, playing with the ball and sitting near his two older German shepherd brothers.  He is good on leash, knows "sit", is crate trained and housebroken.  Dillon tends to defer to the people he loves.  He looks into our eyes prior to doing something as though he's trying to determine if what he's about to do is acceptable to us.  Oh, and Dillon absolutely loves car rides.  He's a great ride-a-long dog!  We actually believe he just loves being with people and will do anything you ask as long as he can tag along.

Dillon loves, loves, loves people.  He loves being close, he loves being touched, he loves being rubbed but he's not pushy.  If we cannot devote our attention to him, he is fine with sitting near us and entertaining himself.  He's just an amazing dog.  He is even tempered and does not get too excited much.  He is a calm dog who finds joy in most any situation.

Dillon has a shiny coat and he's very soft.

Background:  Dillon somehow ended up at the "Humane Sanctuary, Inc.", a self proclaimed "no-kill sanctuary," in Kinsman, Ohio.  He had been there for awhile prior to the seizure of 162 live dogs, 2 horses, many cats, roosters and chickens in February, 2010.  The animals were living in deplorable conditions, some in outdoor kennels, some in crates in a cold barn and some in a "condemned" home feeding off of dead dogs.  Dillon was one of many dogs living outdoors in a dirty, chain-link kennel, with no food or water and insufficient shelter.  Dillon shared the kennel with

another male dog and there was only one very small dog house to keep both dogs warm.  As you know, this past January was very cold with very severe storms but Dillon and the other dogs that made it out of there alive survived something that can only be described as hell.  If you are interested in seeing pictures of the property prior to seizure, please visit:  http://www.canineadvocatesofohio.org/HumaneSanctuary/Index.htm

Anyone lucky enough to add Dillon to their family must be prepared to attend at least one obedience class with Dillon within the first 2 months of placement.

Northeast Ohio placements only.  We conduct pre- and post-placement home checks.  The placement donation for Dillon is $150.

If you are interested in adding Dillon to your family, once you have determined that you comply with our placement requirements, please complete and submit the online placement application or the writeable pdf placement application.
