Eddie is great fun when you're ready to laugh and a teddy bear when you want to relax. He is ready for anything so long as he is with you! Don't get us wrong, he's fine being crated while his foster mom is at work but his preference is to be around people and dogs! He's a very social dog and is so happy to have a second chance! Eddie currently lives with a male dog who is older than he is and doesn't love playing as much as Eddie would like. Eddie is a little overbearing for his canine brother when it comes to playing but as soon as Eddie's ready to cuddle, his foster brother just loves Eddie as much as Eddie loves him! When we can get the rescue dogs together, we have Eddie, Norman and Dexter play until they're wiped out. They are all young and very playful so they are very compatible romping around outside!
Eddie is very attentive and responds the first time his foster mom speak to him. He hears her voice and turns in her direction. His number one priority is making her happy! Eddie is a very intelligent dog and loves to learn new cues. He's also very food motivated so teaching him is very, very easy. Eddie knows "sit," "down," "paw" and "stay" and his foster mom is always teaching him new things. Eddie is also great on leash! He walks nicely next to his canine brother and enjoys being out doors and seeing new things. Whenever he spots a person or dog down the street, his tail starts wagging uncontrollably as he anticipates the greeting. People always remark on how happy Eddie looks when he's on his walks! His mouth is always wide open with a huge smile!
Eddie is housebroken, crate trained, loves car rides and walks well on leash. He loves everyone, humans and dogs! Eddie is up to date on vaccinations, crate trained, neutered and will be microchipped prior to placement.
Background: On Sunday, July 18, 2010, a young women walking to Starbucks for coffee had the surprise of her life when two pit mixes ran towards her and began licking her legs. They were both emaciated and one had open wounds so she went back to her house and got her car to pick them up. They both readily jumped in her vehicle and sat very nicely in the back seat, each looking out the back seat windows. Although Mary had never met a pit bull type dog, she could not believe how everyone told her to either just put both back out on the streets or to call the warden where she knew they would be called. When FTLOPs was contacted, we wanted to help but had no room to take in the dogs; however, Mary readily turned her life inside out to foster the dogs so they would not be put down for no justified reason.
