For the Love of Pits® is one of the only reputable rescue organizations in Northeast Ohio rescuing pit bull type dogs.  With so many wonderful and deserving dogs in need of rescue, For the Love of Pits is always in need of volunteers. 

Volunteers are the heart and soul of For the Love of Pits.  Our devoted volunteers spend their time and effort to make our organization a success.  Whether caring for our dogs, managing events, raising funds or responding to emails and phone calls, volunteers are a very important part of For the Love of Pits.  Together, we can improve the environment in which pit bull owners and their dogs live, save countless lives and create safer and more humane communities.

By joining For the Love of Pits' team, among other things, you'll help:

• Save the lives of dogs on whom so many other organizations have turned their backs;

• Socialize and train dogs who have never known human kindness;

• Dispel damaging myths and Educate the public regarding the true characteristics of pit bull dogs;

• Create a more friendly environment in which pit bulls and their owners can live; and

• Educate the public regarding responsible ownership and safe interactions with dogs.

Volunteer Opportunities:

There are so many ways to become involved with For the Love of Pits and, because of our innovative and dedicated volunteers the opportunities are continually growing.  Here are just a few ways you can get involved:

Become a foster home.  Click here for more information on foster caregivers.

Attend events (primarily in the Summer / Fall).

Teach classes (currently, in need of space and certified trainers).

Attend obedience classes with our rescue dogs.

Screen applicants interested in our dogs.

Fundraising.

Humane Education Presenter in Classrooms.

Create educational and promotional materials.

How to Get Involved:

Step One:

The first step in becoming a volunteer is to complete and submit the volunteer application.  Please click on the link in the yellow box above to open the application.  The form is writeable, meaning you can type in your answers and then save the document to your desktop.  Please be sure to save your completed application in PDF format.  Then, you can either print the application and send it to our post office box below or attach the completed PDF application to an email to shana@fortheloveofpits.org.  We will get back to you after reviewing your application.

Step Two:

The second step is to attend a volunteer orientation.  During the orientation, you will learn about For the Love of Pits and the many areas we have available for volunteers.
