They
say good things come to those who wait, and wait she did. Momena,
as we fondly called her, was rescued by us at 5 weeks of age. She
was not placed in her forever home until she was approximately 19 months
of age. The wait was worth it, though. She is the
center of her owner's world and, recently, in an email, her owner told
us that:
"She is such a joy to be around that I find
myself rushing home just so I can be with her!"
Mia is everything a pit bull dog should be. She's happy, wiggly, extremely intelligent, easy to train, affectionate, funny and so much fun to be around. She loves playing with other dogs and has a new best friend. Oh, and she has a grandmother that absolutely loves and spoils her, as any wonderful grandmother should :)
Mia is a true ambassador. Everyone who meets her loves her and her big smile! You can feel her enthusiasm in all she does and we were extremely lucky to know her and have the opportunity to find her the perfect home for her! Mia is a true gem and will now live happily ever after!

CALVIN -
Calvin's
caregivers chose to provide Calvin with his forever home. We
couldn't be happier that Calvin has stayed in the FTLOP's family!
He now attends events as an ambassador dog and has many fans from
Facebook to many of our followers.
Calvin's good looks and magnetic personality attract people wherever he goes.

As you can see from the pictures, Renee's forever home is keeping her very active! She's Canine Good Citizen certified and continues to attend and participate in obedience classes; she's involved in weight pulling (and she's won first place in a beginner competition!); she's a dock diver; and she runs with her owners approximately 6 miles a day, although, I've been told she gets Mondays off :)
Renee is
one of those special dogs that makes all the hard work, long hours and
stress worth it in the end. Renee was having trouble at the humane
society when we first saw her. I was told they would probably
euthanize her because she was going down hill, because she was dark
brindle and because she was older (and, of course, these 2 things are
not attractive to people adopting). We obviously had to rescue her
even though we did not fall in love with her at first sight.
Within minutes of spending time with her, however, she had us wrapped around her paws! Her temperament is rock solid, her personality draws you in, her humor keeps you wanting more and her love for all she meets makes you feel like the most special person in the world. She is a dog you want to be around and when you're not with her, you are thinking about her. For some reason, though, people were not attracted to her appearance (we think she's gorgeous!!!). We always have trouble with black and dark brindle dogs so this wasn't surprising but it was sad to us that she was missing out on a forever home and some lucky family was missing out on Renee.
Then Anastasia and Matt came along. They had very specific requirements for a dog. They read Renee's description and thought she would be perfect! This is exactly what Renee needed; someone to look for a particular temperament and activity level. They believed Renee would be perfect for them and we agreed. That's all history now and we couldn't have asked for a better forever home. We miss Renee but 're sure she has long forgotten about her time with us . . . and that's all we can hope for.
