  ROXY

Roxy is a great example of why focusing on breed is so problematic.  To us, Roxy looks like a mutt; a mix of many breeds.  To an Ohio shelter, she looked like a pit bull and, therefore, was not adoptable so her wonderful fosters reached out to us for help so she was not euthanized.  No matter her breed, this sweet dog has one of the most solid temperaments with people, dogs and cats.  Any rescue or shelter should be proud to have their name associated with this dog.  She's the reason people love dogs and we're proud to help save her life!

Roxy is animated and funny and has a bright, positive personality.  She is happy in every situation and finds joy in everything she does.  Roxy reminds us to love life each and every day. Even after a long, difficult day of work, Roxy puts a smile on her foster parents' faces.  Her goal in life is to make her people happy!

Roxy absolutely loves the companionship of dogs, cats and people.  Her canine siblings love her as much as she loves them, as you can see from the pictures on this page.  She loves laying on them and they love being near her.  They also love romping around the yard and playing with each other inside and outside the home.  Even while at play, she is an obedient dog.  All her foster mom needs to do is call out her name and the play stops to see what mom wants!

Roxy is an easy dog, not requiring much work.  She is not demanding but she likes to be near her people.  If her fosters cannot focus their attention on her, she is fine lying near them, chewing on a bone or entertaining herself.  She merely loves being in the presence of the ones she loves.   When her foster parents have time, she is ready to cuddle and be loved.  She is fine sharing their attention with her canine siblings and actually enjoys it.  She is just easy going and very grateful to be a part of a loving family.

Roxy will do well in most any home.  This sweet girl is resilient and doesn't seem to hold on to her terrible past.  She shows no signs of any baggage and is really just an all around wonderful dog.  Just amazing.  As touched on above, Roxy currently lives with three dogs and cats and is fantastic with all of them!  She knows basic obedience, is housetrained and crate trained.  Roxy is a pro cuddler and constantly wants to be by your side but is not overwhelming or too needy.  She loves, loves, loves people!!

Background In November, 2009, Roxy was dumped at shelter in Zanesville with a litter of puppies.  One of the shelter's volunteers stepping up to care for the family until the puppies were ready to be weaned from mom and adopted out.   Roxy was a wonderful mother and took great care of her pups.  She was gentle and loving and taught them how to behave.  She allowed her caregivers to play with and handle her pups and just sat back quietly enjoying the sight.  Once the pups were ready to leave mom, the shelter adopted them out.  Unfortunately, for Roxy, she's a pit bull mix and too old to be cute enough to be adopted out by the horrible shelter so the shelter told the fosters that if they returned her, she would be put down.  Because of Roxy's amazing temperament and devoted foster family, we stepped up to help this amazing ambassador.

Roxy is amazing and anyone lucky enough to add her to their family.  If you are interested in Roxy, please confirm that you satisfy our placement requirements.  If you do, please complete and submit the online or PDF placement application.
